Antique furniture is not the same as modern flatpack. Four factors make specialist handling essential.
Antique furniture is fragile — one careless lift can damage 150-year-old joints.
Antiques cannot be recreated if damaged. Every scratch, chip, or crush permanently reduces monetary and sentimental value.
Delicate finishes need proper blankets — never bare straps.
Large antiques need two handlers and careful manoeuvring through tight spaces.

Our handlers carry specialist blanket wrap, edge guards, furniture dollies, and corner padding on every job — white glove delivery as standard.

Giant Van provides antique furniture delivery and collection across the whole of the United Kingdom. Key service areas include London (all postcodes), Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds, Oxford, Bath, Brighton, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Canterbury, Nottingham, and York. We regularly collect from regional auction houses in Hampshire, Kent, the Cotswolds, and the Home Counties, and deliver nationwide including Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Need to hold your antique between collection and delivery? We offer short-term storage options for antiques in London and at regional hubs, with items kept in padded, climate-stable environments — not open warehouses. Storage for antiques in London is available from a minimum of one week.
Pricing for antique furniture delivery depends on what you are moving, how far, and what packaging and insurance the job needs. Single-piece local deliveries start from £49; regional and long-distance jobs price up from there. Multi-piece local moves price per hour. For high-value fine art or pieces that need bespoke crating, we discuss requirements and quote directly.
We provide all wrapping materials — blankets, corner guards, edge protectors, and tie-down straps. Most antique furniture moves do not require crating, which is why our standard service includes no crating. For sculpture and framed works that genuinely need a rigid case, custom crating is discussed and quoted separately.
For standard moves, a week's notice is usually enough. For complex collections, international movements, or moves needing custom crating, allow three to four weeks. Contact us early and we will advise on realistic timelines.
Yes. We regularly collect from Christie's, Sotheby's, Bonhams, and regional auction houses across the UK. We also deliver to auction rooms for consignment.
We offer tiered coverage from standard goods-in-transit to bespoke agreed value policies underwritten by fine art specialists. We confirm coverage applicable to your job in writing before collection. For high-value items, we'll discuss your requirements and recommend appropriate cover.
Yes. These items need specific handling because of their mechanisms. We transport clock movements separately where needed and understand the care required for mercury-containing barometers.
We transport to secure storage facilities across the UK. We do not operate storage units ourselves, but we work with climate-controlled facilities suited to fine art and antiques.
We cover the entire UK, from central London to the Scottish Highlands. For international movements, we coordinate with specialist partners.
Yes. Insurance for antique furniture delivery is tiered: standard goods-in-transit cover applies to most jobs, while high-value or fragile pieces can be covered under agreed-value policies with fine art specialists. We confirm the coverage applicable to your job in writing before collection.
