The Heart of the City development around Fargate and The Moor has changed traffic flows significantly. Several streets that were previously accessible now have timed restrictions. Our drivers check current Sheffield City Council restrictions before every job.

Charter Square and the area around Sheffield Train Station on Sheaf Square have strict loading bay rules.

You cannot stop on Howard Street or Arundel Gate during peak hours without a permit. For larger removals from apartments above restaurants on Division Street or offices near Orchard Square, we apply for a temporary parking dispensation when needed.

Flats in the St Paul's Tower and Velocity Tower on Tenter Street require pre-booking with the building concierge for lift access.

We advise customers to contact their building manager at least 24 hours before move day. Giant Van coordinates this for you at no extra charge.

Sheffield City Centre is more complex to navigate than it looks on a map.

The Supertram network crosses several key streets. Trams have absolute priority on West Street, London Road, and Church Street. Vans cannot stop on tram tracks under any circumstances. Sheffield City Council will issue an immediate fixed penalty notice.

Loading on Fargate is prohibited at all times.

The pedestrian zone extends from Castle Square to Leopold Street and enforcement is 24 hours, seven days a week. For deliveries to properties on or near Fargate, we use side streets off Norfolk Street or Surrey Street.

Division Street and Devonshire Street have loading bays with a 20-minute limit during business hours (8am to 6pm).

For furniture that takes longer to load, we use our own vehicles parked legally around the corner while crew shuttle items using a sack truck.

Arundel Gate, outside the Sheffield Hallam University Owen Building, has a bus lane that operates between 7am and 7pm.

Our drivers know to use Howard Street or Charles Street to approach without entering the bus lane.

For apartment blocks in the city centre, we ask customers to check whether their building has a service entrance.

Velocity Tower on Tenter Street, St Paul's Tower, and the Mandale developments near Shalesmoor all have loading dock arrangements. We coordinate access with building management before the job starts. This is standard practice for us on every S1 job.
