Edinburgh City Centre has some of the most complex access conditions of any urban area in the UK.

If you don't plan for them, your move can grind to a halt before it starts.

The Old Town is the most challenging zone.

Streets like the Royal Mile (EH1 1SR), Cockburn Street and the Lawnmarket have strict loading restrictions during daytime hours. Many buildings here open directly onto closes or narrow alleyways that cannot accommodate a large van. We assess access during booking and send the right vehicle size every time.

The New Town presents different challenges.

Properties on Princes Street, Queen Street and Charlotte Square often sit directly on controlled parking zones. A Residents Parking Permit or a temporary suspension may be needed for the street outside your building. We advise you on this during the booking process and can arrange temporary suspensions in advance through Edinburgh City Council where required.

Grassmarket and the Cowgate area sit in a low bridge zone.

Vehicles over a certain height cannot pass under certain arches along the West Bow approach. We route all our vans to avoid restricted routes and always verify clearance before dispatch.

Parking on George Street and the surrounding New Town grid can be secured in short-stay bays during off-peak windows.

We time our arrival to take advantage of these gaps where possible.

For buildings in the EH2 postcode, many Victorian tenement stairwells are tight.

We assess stair width, floor level and lift availability before we arrive. If there's no lift and the flat is on the fourth floor, we factor this into the quote and send an additional mover at no extra cost to you.

The area has a mix of Victorian tenements, converted commercial buildings and newer flatted developments.

Tollcross and Bruntsfield (EH3) sit just south of the city centre.

Many properties here are larger Victorian terraced houses with better access, which makes loading and unloading more straightforward.

Newington (EH9) is a popular residential area for families and professionals.

It's about 10 minutes from the city centre and within our core coverage zone.
