Every Giant Van mattress collection in Portsmouth includes two trained crew members, a fully insured vehicle, and protective mattress bags at no extra charge.

You do not need to wrap the mattress yourself or source packaging.

Here is what happens on the day.

The driver texts you a 30-minute arrival window using our GPS tracking app. The crew assesses the carry route before lifting: they check doorways, stairwells, and any tight corners. They wrap the mattress in a heavy-duty polythene bag, then carry it out using correct manual handling technique. This protects you, the crew, and the mattress itself.

For deliveries, we carry the mattress to the room of your choice.

We do not leave it in the hallway. If you are moving into a new-build on the Port Solent marina development or a flat above a shop on Elm Grove, the crew will navigate the route to your specific room.

Same-day mattress collection in Portsmouth is available seven days a week, including bank holidays.

If you book before noon, a same-day afternoon slot is usually available in PO1, PO2, PO3, PO4, and PO5. Outer postcodes including PO6 (Cosham) can sometimes be accommodated same-day subject to availability. Call to confirm a slot or use the app for an instant quote in under two minutes.

New mattress arriving but nowhere for the old one to go?

Giant Van can collect and dispose of your old mattress on the same visit as your new delivery, subject to availability.

Portsmouth City Council's bulky waste collection service covers mattresses but requires a minimum three-day booking window.

If your new mattress is arriving tomorrow or same-day, that option rarely works in practice. Giant Van can remove the old mattress and take it to a licensed waste transfer station. We use Portsmouth's registered waste facilities and provide a duty of care receipt on request.

Memory foam mattresses cannot go to landfill under current regulations.

We work with recycling partners who separate the foam, fabric, and spring components. This applies to pocket sprung, open coil, and hybrid mattresses too.

If you are a landlord managing a property changeover on Goldsmith Avenue, Arundel Street, or in the Fratton Road HMO belt, we can collect multiple mattresses from a cleared property in one visit.

Disposal is priced separately from delivery.
