Access is one of the most overlooked parts of planning a removal, and Stevenage has some quirks worth knowing about before you book.

Residential streets in the Bedwell and Symonds Green neighbourhoods, particularly around Hydean Way and Woodfield Road, have dropped kerbs and designated parking bays that can limit where a large vehicle can sit.

For properties on the Pin Green estate, notably the closes off Mobbsbury Way and Broadhall Way, our standard policy is to arrive 20 minutes early to walk the route and identify the best point for the van.

Narrow access points near Bedwell Crescent and off the Coreys Mill Lane roundabout are not a problem provided we plan around them.

If your property is in a controlled parking zone or requires a temporary loading bay suspension, Stevenage Borough Council issues permits through its parking services team.

We can advise you on what to apply for, though the permit itself must be applied for by the householder. Most applications are straightforward and councils typically respond within five working days.
