The Old Town closes off the Royal Mile, such as Advocates Close, Fleshmarket Close, and Warriston's Close, are too narrow for any vehicle larger than a small van.

Pianos must be carried by hand from the vehicle to the property entrance, sometimes over cobblestones that slope at angles up to 15 degrees. We plan for this and add additional crew members where required.

The New Town, covering postcodes EH2 and EH3, is primarily Grade A listed Georgian.

Properties on Heriot Row, Moray Place, and Great King Street have original stone staircases with tight half-landings and low soffits. Our crews use piano boards designed specifically for turns under 1.2 metres of clear width.

In Morningside (EH10) and Marchmont (EH9), the Victorian tenements typically have shared stone stairs with 90-degree turns on each floor.

Piano access is almost always via the main stair because the rear courts are blocked by outbuildings or parked cars. We assess stair width, banister clearance, and ceiling height before quoting.

In Leith (EH6), former industrial conversions and modern waterfront apartments on Commercial Street and The Shore often have goods lifts or oversized stair cores, which makes piano access easier.

However, parking restrictions on Dock Place and Bernard Street require a parking suspension, which Edinburgh City Council charges £56 per bay per day. We advise you on this at quote stage.

Edinburgh's main controlled parking zones cover EH1 through EH4 and most of EH10.

The streets off Bruntsfield Place and Morningside Road include many category B listed buildings with restricted access.

EH11, EH12, and EH13 (Stenhouse, Corstorphine, and Juniper Green): More modern housing stock with easier vehicle access.

Piano moves here are typically straightforward.

EH14 to EH17 (Currie, Gilmerton, Liberton, and Danderhall): Suburban postcodes with standard access.
