Same Day House Removals in Edinburgh

Edinburgh City Council operates one of the most extensive controlled parking zones in Scotland.

Most of the inner city is covered by residents-only bays or pay-and-display restrictions between 8am and 6:30pm on weekdays. Same day bookings need to account for this from the start.

In the EH1 and EH2 postcode areas covering the Old Town and the west end of the New Town, loading bays on streets like Lothian Road, George Street, and Princes Street are time-restricted to 20 or 30 minutes.

Our drivers know which streets allow short-term loading in the early morning before restrictions kick in. For moves starting after 9am in these zones, we recommend applying for a parking suspension through the council at least 48 hours in advance. However, on same day bookings we work around restrictions by staging goods to the nearest accessible point and using two-person carries where the van cannot stop directly outside.

In Stockbridge (EH4), streets around Dean Village and Comely Bank Road often have parked cars blocking natural loading points.

We carry traffic cones and use them legally where space permits. In Morningside (EH10), roads near Greenhill Gardens and Comiston Road tend to have cleaner access but narrower pavements, making larger wardrobes and sofas a careful manoeuvre.

EH6 covers Leith, Pilrig, and Bonnington.

A mix of old tenements and new waterfront developments near The Shore. Access on the waterfront developments is generally easier, but parking on residential streets like Ferry Road and Great Junction Street needs planning.

EH7 and EH8 cover Abbeyhill, Meadowbank, and Holyrood.

These postcodes sit just east of the city centre and have a good mix of street types. Arthur's Seat is visible from many of the properties here, but the roads themselves are relatively manageable.

EH10 covers Morningside and Bruntsfield.

Popular with families and professionals. Victorian stone-built semis and tenements dominate. The main streets around Morningside Road and Comiston Road are busy at school-run times; we avoid these windows where possible.

EH11, EH12, and EH14 cover Dalry, Corstorphine, and Currie.

Wider suburban streets, generally easier access. Good for larger house moves with lots of furniture.

EH16 and EH17 cover Liberton, Gilmerton, and Danderhall.

Outer south Edinburgh, with modern estates and semi-detached houses. These jobs tend to run smoothly and quickly.
