Margate has some of the most varied access conditions of any coastal town in Kent.

The properties along Harold Road and Ethelbert Crescent in the CT9 1 area often have bay-fronted front rooms where the piano sits directly inside the bay window. Removing the window and lowering the instrument by shoulder straps is a technique our team uses regularly in this part of town. Properties on Sweyn Road and around the Cliftonville Avenue stretch of CT9 2 tend to have long, narrow hallways that rule out a straight carry and require careful angling.

In the old town area near King Street and Market Street, the streets themselves are the access challenge.

Double yellows, limited parking bays, and the pedestrian priority zones mean we apply for a parking suspension permit in advance so the van can park directly outside. Without that permit, a piano move on these streets adds 30 to 40 minutes and increases the risk of a dropped instrument. We handle permit applications as part of the booking process.

Seafront properties along Marine Drive and Marine Terrace in CT9 5 frequently have entrance steps cut directly from the pavement.

We use a combination of a stair-climbing trolley and a floor runner system to protect both the instrument and the flooring inside. Flats above ground floor in the blocks near the Turner Contemporary also come up regularly, and we assess lift dimensions at survey stage to confirm whether the piano can travel by lift or must go by stair.
