International moves involve more moving parts than domestic ones. Customs paperwork, booking windows, and shipping schedules all need time.

You pay for every cubic metre you ship. Sell, donate, or dispose of anything you have not used in the past year. This reduces your costs and gives you a cleaner start in your new home.

Some countries ban or restrict certain items including soil, seeds, certain foods, firearms, and some medications. Your destination country's embassy or customs authority website will list current restrictions.

Do not pack passports, birth certificates, medical records, or insurance documents in your removal boxes. Carry these in your hand luggage.

Use a colour-coding system if you have a large volume of boxes. This speeds up delivery day considerably.

Should any damage occur in transit, photographs provide clear evidence for any insurance claim.

That is no longer the case. Moving to France, Spain, Germany, Portugal, or any other EU member state now requires a Transfer of Residence (ToR) relief application or equivalent customs procedure.

You must have owned the goods for at least six months. You must have been living outside the EU for at least twelve consecutive months. You must be moving your primary residence to the EU country in question.

In Spain, this is called "Franquicia de Mudanza." In France, it is "Transfert de Résidence."

This is the most convenient option and gives you the most protection, because items packed by our team are covered under our insurance from the moment we wrap them.

This reduces the cost but places more responsibility on you. Items you pack yourself are covered by transit insurance for loss but not always for damage, depending on the policy.

The cost difference is typically modest when measured against the time, materials, and stress involved in packing a three-bedroom home yourself. For smaller moves, self-pack can work well.
